Sandra Small age 77, of Strasburg, VA passed away peacefully on September 25, 2022 in Winchester, VA.

A memorial service for Mrs. Small will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 30, 2022, at Stover Funeral Home and Crematory, Strasburg, VA.  A reception will follow at the Laurel Hill Christian Church in Strasburg.   An additional memorial will be held in Tucson, AZ in January 2023. Sandi was born in Long Beach, CA and spent part of her childhood in Michigan, Maryland, Virginia and finally settling in Tucson, AZ, where she lived for 46 years before moving back to Virginia 14 years ago to be in the Blue Ridge mountains which she loved so much.  While living in Tucson, Sandi had many friends and acquaintances through her love of animals. She worked for Buena Pet Clinic for many years where she was able to care for the animals she loved so much. Sandi raised German Shepherds for over 50 years for obedience and show and was an avid dog trainer for Schutzhund K-9 training and tracking. Her dogs were like no other. She and her cutting horse, Monty, enjoyed Western events as well as Eastern events with her jumper mare, Steele. Sandi had a deep love for all animals and cared for not only dogs and horses but also many cats, birds, ferrets, bunnies, turtles, guinea pigs, and even a duck. She had a special gift of communicating with them which made them forget they were animals when they were in her care.  Sandi was so loved and will be deeply missed by her many friends and family. We know she'll be greeted at the Rainbow Bridge by a large welcome party of all her beloved animals. Ride and be free....until we meet again.

Sandi is survived by her two children, Cynthia Poppe and Jeffrey Small, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

In her memory donations may be made to your local humane society, zoo or animal shelter as those were dearest to Sandi's heart.
