Obituary

Sally Yates a beloved mother, MawMaw, aunt, cousin and friend passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 8th, 2024, at the age of 74.

Born on April 3rd, 1950, daughter of the late George Terrance and Sara Belle Ambrose Neal. Sally was a Strasburg native and lifelong active member of Strasburg Christian Church.  She was a devoted mother to children Allison Martin and Christian Yates and a cherished MawMaw to her grandchildren Brandon Martin, Megan Martin, Eli Yates, and Millie Yates.  Sally's nurturing spirit and her ability to bring joy to those around her were at the heart of her family, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she loved.

In addition to her immediate family, Sally was a beloved aunt, cousin, and friend. She shared countless memories with those closest to her always offering her support, wisdom, and laughter. Whether through family gatherings, holiday celebrations, Halloween, which was her favorite holiday or just a quiet conversation. Sally made an indelible impact on all who knew her.

Sally's life was defined by her deep love for her family, her boundless generosity, and her unwavering kindness toward everyone she encountered.  Sally's warm heart and sense of humor will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to inspire and guide her family and friends.

Sally's is survived by her daughter Allison Martin and husband Ryan Martin of Strasburg, VA and her son Christian Yates and wife Fallon Yates of Salem, VA. Her grandchildren Brandon Martin, Megan Martin, Eli Yates, and Millie Yates. Her wonderful niece Terry Lynn Fauber, who walked through this cancer journey with her every step of the way along with her 68 girls group that loved her very much.

In addition to her parents, Sally is predeceased by her husband Dwight Yates whom she shared a life with for 47 years, and her sister Patty Spiker.

A celebration of Sally's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 13, 2024, at Strasburg Christian Church with Rev. Rob Lovett officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the celebration at the church.   Mrs. Yates will be laid to rest privately.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to everyone for their support during this difficult time.  Sally will always be remembered with love and affection, and she will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Strasburg Christian Church youth group, 165 High Street, Strasburg, VA 22657 where Sally was a lifelong member or Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork St., Winchester, VA 22601.
