Sallie Ann (Ritenour) Rusch, 86, peacefully passed away on September 6, 2021.

Sallie was born and raised in Strasburg, VA and was one of 9 children to the late Arthur Ritenour and Ellen (Blanchfield) Ritenour.   After leaving Strasburg, to pursue a career in Washington, DC, she met her husband, Donald H. Rusch.   They were married in May of 1961.

Don and Sallie moved to Hicksville, NY, Cape Canaveral, FL, and Houston, Tx before settling back to Strasburg, VA for several years.  In the mid 1970's they moved to Virginia Beach, VA, were she eventually retired from the accounting department of REIN in 2009.  Since retirement, Sallie enjoyed going to exercise class, eating out, spending time with her family, and reading.  Her infectious laugh and multiple hair colors will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her son, D. Scott Rusch (April) of Virginia Beach, her son- in- law Sefton Strickland of West End, NC, and her four grandchildren, Mason Rusch and Madison (Nicholas) Bryant all of Virginia Beach and Zachary and Joshua Strickland of West End, NC.

Mrs. Rusch was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Rusch of Virginia Beach, her daughter, Darlene Strickland, of West End, NC, her brothers Arthur (Bill) Ritenour, Robert Ritenour, John Ritenour, Dan Ritenour, Fred (Beck) Ritenour, and her sisters June Johnston, Gloria Grassmoen, and Penny Teal.

An informal memorial celebration will take place on Sept 26, 2021, from 2-4 pm at her son's home.

Sallie will then be interred next to her husband at a graveside ceremony at Riverview Cemetery, in Strasburg, VA on October 16th at 11:00 am.

Memorial donations can be made to the Chesapeake Humane society, 312 N. Battlefield Blvd Chesapeake, VA  23320 in honor of Monty Rusch.
