Ronald Coulter Stickley August 19, 1932 - November 29, 2010 Ronald Coulter Stickley, age 78, of Strasburg, Virginia came into the world to teach the simplicity of life. Family, nature, music, natural healing and animals were his passions. Ronald spent his life raising, training and breeding quarter horses. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association, the National Cutting Horse Association, Northeast Quarter Horse Association and East Coast Cutting Horse Association. He bred the first American Quarter Horse Association World Champion Jumping Horse named Bobs Bay King and won the East Coast Open Championship. He was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Strasburg, Shenandoah American Legion Post No. 77, Strasburg, Strasburg Moose Lodge No. 403 and served in the United States Air Force. He is now an eternal spirit and leaves his legacy of love to his wife, Barbara Stickley; his children, Julie Ann Brakowiecki and husband, Joseph, Catherine M. Rutherford and husband, Michael, Barbara A. Brinser, Michael Finnerty and wife, Sally and Robin Jo Riner. He was blessed with thirteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Coulter H. and Willie C. Smith Stickley; his first wife, Betty Lou Smoot Stickley and his brother, Rex Stickley. The Stickley family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home, 177 No. Holliday St., Strasburg on Wednesday from 7 to 9 P.M. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Thursday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Strasburg with Mrs. Sonya William-Giersch and Rev. Russell Siler officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post No. 77, Strasburg. Memorials may be made to either St. Paul Lutheran Church, 193 W. Washington St., Strasburg, VA 22657 or Strasburg Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 620, Strasburg, VA 22657.
