Richard Constantino Radi 84 of Middletown, VA passed away Saturday, December 24, 2022, at his residence.
A funeral service for Mr. Radi will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 31, 2022, at Stover Funeral Home. Masonic rites will be given by the Spurmont Lodge No 98 A.F. & A.M. of Strasburg, VA. Mr. Radi will be laid to rest in Fishers Hill Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon.
Richard was born in New York on March 29, 1938, a son of the late Constantino and Irene Phillips Radi. He was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Front Royal, VA and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Richard was a member of the Spurmont Lodge No 98 A.F. & A.M. in Strasburg where he held many positions and offices. He was a member of the Civil War Lodge of Research #1865 A.F. & A.M. as well as many other lodges throughout the years. Richard was a life member of the Somers Vol Fire Department with over 60 years of dedicated service. He was the founder and member of the Somers Fire Department Benevolent Association, life member of the Westchester County Vol. Firemen's Association, member of the Firemen's Association of the State of New York, Deputy Chief of the Somers Bureau of Fire Prevention, and Fire Commissioner for the Somers Fire District. He served as the Boy Scout Leader for Troop 1 in Somers, New York. In the words of Richard himself, "I did it my way".
Survivors include his loving wife Catherine Radi of Middletown, VA; his children Richard C. Radi (Deborah) of Amawalk, NY, John Radi of Joliet, IL, and Karen Radi of Somers, NY; his grandchildren Michelle Radi-Jordan (Brendan) and Richard M. Radi along with a sister-in-law Virginia Radi of FL.
In lieu of flowers the family suggest that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Tunnel to Towers Foundation 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10306 or Spurmont Lodge No 98, Temple Committee, P.O. Box 108, Strasburg, VA 22657.
