Richard Lewis Hockman, 78, of Strasburg, VA passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023, at The Maynard of Strasburg, VA.

A funeral service for Mr. Hockman will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 11, 2023, at Stover Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Toms Brook Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Friday, August 11, 2023 one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Hockman was born in Washington DC on November 26, 1944, a son of the late Lewis Baker and Anna Elizabeth Richard Hockman.  He worked as a machine operator with Rubbermaid and was a farmer.  Mr. Hockman was a member of the National Rifle Association, and a simple man who enjoyed spending time at home and taking care of his cows and cat.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew Charles David Fridley; a niece Patricia Fleenor and a great niece Sarah Elizabeth Hardy.

Survivors include his sisters Frances Gaa of Toms Brook, VA and Mary Ann Boyd of Tennessee; special nieces Robin Hardy and Teresa See (William) all of Moorefield, WV; special cousin Everette Davidson along with several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Evan Kyer, Michael Bierkamp, William See, Jr., Bryce Lee, Bryan Davis, and Garnett Fridley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Everette Davidson and Donnie Davidson
