Raymond Dale Salyers age 85, a resident of Toms Brook, VA passed away Sunday, November 29, 2015 at his residence. A funeral service for Mr. Salyers will be conducted at 7:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Liberty Baptist Church with Pastor Keith Warren officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 3, 2015 at Stonewall Memorial Gardens, Manassas, VA. He was born in Dickenson County, Virginia on March 14, 1930 a son of the late Alfred and Nancy Jane Rasnake Salyers. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and was a retired plumber. He loved his Bluegrass music and played in a bluegrass band. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet Stevens Salyer, a son, Tony Salyers, five brothers and a sister. Survivors include his wife, Susan Salyers of Toms Brook, VA; his two daughters, Wanda G. Miller and husband Edward Lee of Middletown, VA and Brenda M. Harding of Luray; step-children, Shawn Akers of Charleston, WV and Sherri Barrick and husband Dave of Toms Brook, VA; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; his siblings, Glenn Salyers of Inwood, WV and Hester Head of Abingdon, VA; sisters-in-law, Dora Bell Lowe of Cedar Bluff, VA and Alice Rasnake of Cleveland, VA; Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Miller, Jerry Brown, Dave Barrick, Tim Brogan, Lee Miller and Shawn Akers. The family will receive friends at Liberty Baptist Church on Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until the time of the service at 7:30 P.M.
