Peggy (Margaret) Carey, 89, of Strasburg, VA passed away Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Winchester, VA.

Ms. Carey was born in Damascus, Maryland on May 9, 1936, a daughter of the late Wilbur Ward and Elva Norine Lewis Fairchild.  Peggy worked as an executive secretary in the moving and transfer industry for many years.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Jane Walker and brother-in-law, David Walker.

Survivors include her daughter Donna Jones Foster of Strasburg, VA; her grandchildren Amy Morris of Miami, FL and Robb Foster of Strasburg, VA; her nephews David Walker, Jr. (Kathy) of Mt. Airy, MD, Mark Walker (Bonnie) of Odenton, MD; her niece Linda McSwain (Lawrence) of Lewes, DE along with her faithful feline companion, Timmy.

A celebration of life service for Peggy will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at Stover Funeral Home with Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersch officiating.  Ms. Carey will be laid to rest privately.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Alzheimer's Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
