It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Paul William Ferguson of Strasburg, VA, who passed away peacefully, at his home surrounded by his loved ones, on June 10, 2026, at the age of 86.
Paul was born in Washington DC on January 15, 1940, a son of the late William Frederick and Eunice Elizabeth Jenkins Fersuson. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran who proudly served his country as a member of the Elite Green Beret Special Forces having earned numerous badges and was awarded the Bronze Star for his courageous service in Vietnam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Patricia "Pat" Ferguson Orndorff, William “Billy” Ferguson, Theodore Ferguson, Robert Ferguson and Daniel Ferguson.
He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 63 years, Margaret Kay Rutz Ferguson; his children, Paul Bradley Ferguson (Tracy), Mark Allen Ferguson (Krissy); his grandchildren, who affectionally called him “Boo Daddy”, Sky Ferguson, Chris Hockman, Kaitlyn Ferguson, Lane Ferguson: several great-grandchildren; his siblings Barbara Ferguson Gent, David Ferguson, Timmy Ferguson, and Jimmy Ferguson along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service for Mr. Ferguson will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at the Strasburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. David Howard officiating. Burial will follow at Panorama Memorial Gardens with full military honors conducted by the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA.
Active pallbearers will be Brad Ferguson, David Ferguson, Jimmy Ferguson, Timmy Ferguson, Lane Ferguson, and Chris Hockman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Ferguson, Sky Ferguson, Charles Rutz, Kaitlyn Ferguson, Barbara Ferguson Gent, and Tracy Ferguson.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Monday, June 15, 2026, from 6-8 P.M.
The family ask that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the Strasburg, Presbyterian Church, 325 S. Holliday Street, Strasburg, Va 22657.
