Obituary

Mike was the husband of Sally Gilbreath Price and a loving father to his daughter Lexi Price and his step children, Garrett, Eva, & Warren. He leaves behind his 3 brothers, Steve, Ronnie, & Danny and his sister Stephanie. He also leaves behind many much loved nieces and nephews. Mike was born in Alexandria, VA to Ron Price and the late Roberta Price and grew up in Sterling, VA. While in Sterling, Mike made many life-long friends whom he has stayed in touch with over the years. They were involved in many adventures in their neighborhood and enjoyed making tree houses and playing baseball and other outdoor games. Mike grew up attending Christian Fellowship Church in Vienna, VA and it was there that he first felt God calling him into the ministry. He preached his first short sermon at 17 years old. He was passionate about reaching out to people who did not know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He preached in the courtyard at his high school and also led a Bible Study there. After high school, Mike attended college at Indiana Wesleyan University for 2 years. While there, he realized that he needed a college that would prepare him for ministry, so he attended Christ for the Nations for 2 years in Long Island, NY. Afterward, Mike became a Youth Pastor for a small church in Atlanta, TX for a short while. Mike returned home to VA and worked for a painter for a few years and then started his own very successful painting business. He was always helping friends and family with their painting needs for free. He had a big heart and wanted to help others in any way he could. Mike felt called to start his own church in 2000. He started a Evangel Church and was a Pastor there for 6 years. During this time, he took piano lessons and led worship at his church each week. Mike was a huge fan of Jimmy Swaggart and enjoyed reading and watching his sermons and playing the same style of music on the piano and incorporating it into the worship service at his church. In 2006, Mike left Evangel Church and began a church with his childhood Pastor, Jay Ahlemann, called Church of the Valley. He preached and led worship. He also began editing TV shows for the local access station WAZT. He had his own hunting show called "Shenandoah Valley Outdoors". Mike realized how much he loved videography and digital editing so in 2009, he made the decision to go to Full Sail University in Orlando, FL for a BS in digital arts and design. In 2009, he also met and married his wife, Sally, and one year later in 2010, they had a baby girl named Lexi Josephine Price. Mike doted on his baby & spent many hours holding and playing with her as she grew. He also continued to build relationships with his step children, Garrett, Eva, & Warren who were 9, 6, & 6 when Lexi was born. When Mike graduated from Full Sail, he began to work for Colonial Baptist Church in Cary, NC in the AVL department. One year later in 2012, Pastor Jay called him to come back to VA and be the Associate Pastor and Worship Leader at a new church, Restoration Fellowship, in Strasburg, VA. Mike loved preaching the Word of God and especially loved to preach on the Old Testament stories and bring out how they fit in with the New Testament. In 2014, Mike decided to leave full time church work and pursue opening his own digital arts and design company, SVO Media LLC. He worked hard to build his business and had many clients including another hunting show, "Just Killin' Time" which airs on the Pursuit Channel. He had also just begun producing and editing "The Tammi Collins Show" in Sept. 2016. He also filmed weddings and made creative heart-touching highlight reels telling the story of their love in every frame. During this time, Mike stayed active in the church Praise Band and also began ministering in Worship for the Youth Group each week. In 2016, Mike lost his Mom, Roberta Price, to a battle with cancer. Mike led worship at Restoration Fellowship on Sept., 25, 2016 for the first time in 2 years. That day was a most joyous one for him! Mike's body passed away on Sept. 30, 2016, but his spirit is in heaven with his Lord Jesus. He is with his Savior who loves him. We can only imagine the joy and peace he is now feeling knowing God's love without bounds! A funeral service for Mike will be conducted at 7:00 P.M.
