Mary Jane Woods, age 92, formerly of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2017 at Greenfield Reflections Nursing Home in Strasburg, Virginia.

Born on December 8, 1925 in Swandale, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late John Preston and Emma Jane Lanham. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Irvin Woods in 2006; four sisters, Ivah, Mabel, Glada and Ollie; and one brother, Lonnie. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother, Wanie Lanham. She was the last remaining member of her immediate family.

Surviving is a son, James Lloyd Davis and daughter-in-law, Helen, of Middletown, Virginia; two grandsons, Brian and Michael Davis; one great-granddaughter, Sarah, and two step-great-grandchildren.

She worked at Charleston General Hospital (CAMC) for 36 years, retiring in 1985. She lived in Charleston, West Virginia until moving to Virginia in 2012 to be near her son. She was a member of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church in Kanawha City. Mary was ready to be with the Lord at the time of her passing.

A funeral service will be held at the chapel at Floral Hills Garden of Memories, 6839 Sissonville Drive, Sissonville, West Virginia at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 with Rev. Bob Jett officiating. Interment will be in Floral Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, Inc., 333 West Cork Street, #405, Winchester, Virginia 22601.
