Mary L. Hoffman, 90, peacefully passed away at her home in Lake of the Woods Subdivision, Locust Grove, VA on September 30, 2023. She was born in Burke, VA and preceded in death by her parents John B. Jenkins and Pearl (Cornell) Jenkins Camp; her husband of 44 years, Donald L. Hoffman; and great-grandson Noah F. Hoffman.
She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Mary's family was the center of her world. She was a source of strength, love, joy, and good humor, not only for her nuclear family but her broader family of friends. Her smile could take you in and wrap you up in the best feeling of acceptance. Mary was a kind and caring woman who was deeply devoted to her family and friends. Her family is grateful for all the years they had to love and cherish her. She loved quilting, playing cards, reading, and spending time with her family. Mary graduated from Blue Ridge School and Alexandria Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as an operating room nurse at Alexandria Hospital for over 25 years.
Mary is survived by her three children, Barbara H. Lynn (James Lynn), Frederick B. Hoffman (Kathryn Sanders Hoffman), and Susan L. Hoffman; her six grandchildren and two spouses: James B. Hoffman (Shaun Hoffman), Christopher A. Hoffman (Sarah Hoffman), Kimberly L. Hoffman, Megan M. Hoffman, Melisa A. Lynn, and Benjamin J. Lynn. Mary was blessed with three great-grandchildren: Aurora Hoffman, Luke Hoffman, and Noah Hoffman.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held at Stover Funeral Home at 177 North Holliday Street in Strasburg, VA on October 10, 2023, starting with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. and a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Strasburg, VA.
The family requests that those wishing to remember Mary do so with a contribution to the American Cancer Society or organization of their choice.
