Louise Kathryne Clem Racey 98 of Strasburg, VA passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, at the home of her son in Hays, N. C.

A funeral service for Mrs. Racey will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Emmanuel Church at Fishers Hill with Rev. Dan Locke officiating.  Burial will follow in the Fishers Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Mrs. Racey was born October 5, 1922, a daughter of the late Thomas McKenny and Stella Mae Finks Clem.  She was raised along the Shenandoah River at the foot of the Massanutten Mountain in the Zion Community near Maurertown, VA.  Mrs. Racey graduated from Toms Brook High School and was employed at American Viscose in Front Royal, VA and later graduated from West Virginia Beauty School in Martinsburg, WV.  She was a beautician by trade operating her own shop and for several years worked at Alecia Beauty Shop in Winchester, VA. She was a longtime member of the Emmanuel Church at Fishers Hill where she sang in the church choir, and for many years she sang with the Sweet Adelines. She was involved with the women's groups in the church and a member of the church council.  She was the wife of the late Earl Edward Racey whom she married on May 15, 1941, in Maurertown, VA.  In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sons Randy Lee Racey and Jerry Allen Racey along with her brother Charles Kenneth Clem.

She is survived by one son, Larry Edward Racey (Maxine); her grandchildren, Shannon Racey, Brian Racey; Steve Spriggs (Sharon), Leanne Combs (Wayne), Richard Spriggs, Lisa Bean (Gwyn) and Rosamond "Rose" Racey; great grandchildren, Sarah White, Katie Spriggs,  Emily South (Taylor), Jacob Spriggs, Avery Bean, Noah Spriggs, Joshua Spriggs, and Micah Spriggs; great-great grandchildren, Krista White, Ransome South, Titan Gene Taylor, J. Bowlin Shanault ,Cade Shanault; a sister in law, Patricia Ridings Clem and several nieces and nephews.
