IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Loretta Kronk
Dyke
March 2, 1931 – July 13, 2024
Loretta Mae Kronk Dyke, 93, of Strasburg, VA died July 13, 2024 at the Blue Ridge Hospice inpatient center in Winchester, VA.
Loretta was born on March 2, 1931, in Toms Brook, VA, daughter of William Clifford Kronk and Viola Mae McGuire Kronk. She graduated from Toms Brook High School in 1948 and married Leonard Dyke in July of 1953. She and Leonard were married 53 years until his death in 2006.
Loretta was a beloved mother, nana, aunt, and friend. She deeply valued family and cherished every gathering, holiday, and moment together. Loretta never met a stranger and showed her love through delicious meals and a welcoming home. Upon sharing her table, one became a part of the family. She was also a devoted, longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Strasburg, providing food for any event the church hosted. Loretta truly lived her life exemplifying the Golden Rule and always put others before herself. Her life was an example of her giving nature and selfless love for others.
Loretta is survived by her children: Bonnie (Bill) Giese, Lynne (Bill) Carper, Leonard "Sonny" (Pam) Dyke and Gregory (Erin) Dyke; six grandchildren: Julie (Kevin) Hay, Sarah Giese, Ryan (Chelsea) Dyke, Corey (Kit) Dyke, Jared (Sarah) Dyke and Natalie Dyke; one great-granddaughter Addison Hay; stepson Larry Morton, step-granddaughters Davina and Stephanie Morton, and two step-great grandsons. She is also survived by her sister Virginia Pangle and sisters-in-law, Pat Kronk and Barbara Seay (whom she considered a daughter). Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her stepson Larry Dyke, brothers William and James Kronk, and sister Betty Barnes.
A graveside service for Loretta will be held at 10 am on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Lebanon Church Cemetery with Rev. Chris Flohr officiating. The family invites you to join them afterwards at St. Paul Lutheran Church from 11am-1pm for visitation, food, and fellowship.
The family wants to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of The Maynard (Strasburg), who became part of the Dyke family, to Blue Ridge Hospice (Strasburg & Winchester) who compassionately cared for Loretta at the end of her life, and to StoverFuneral Home (Strasburg) for providing funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church (hospitality fund) 193 West Washington Street, Strasburg, VA 22657 or to Blue Ridge Hospice 333 West Cork Street, Unit 405, Winchester, VA 22601.
