Lonnie Bruce Bridges age 68, a resident of Bayonet Point, Florida passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 in Florida. A funeral service for Mr. Bridges will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Edward P. Winkler officiating. Burial will follow in Reliance Cemetery, Warren County. He was born in Joplin, Missouri on May 11, 1943 a son of the late William Myrel & Mary Ruth Williams Bridges. He was a 1961 graduate of John S. Mosby Academy. Mr. Bridges was the Director of Buildings and Energy for Loudoun County Public School System and developed the solar energy system at Charles S. Monroe Vocational School in Leesburg. He also served as the Director of Design for all new construction for Loudoun County Public School and designed Loudoun County's computerized energy management control system. Mr. Bridges then transferred to Shenandoah County Public School System where he retired. He served his community by serving with many associations and boards including the Association of Energy Engineers, Virginia Association of School Business Officials, American Association of School Administrators, Warren County Planning Commission and was the former Vice-Chairman of the Planning Commission of New Market, VA and was as a former member of the Strasburg Town Council. Mr. Bridges loved his grandchildren and in his younger years of life he enjoyed a good game of chess and playing the guitar and was a former coach of the Upper Loudoun Baseball and Football Little League. Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Judith Ann Sargent of Bayonet Point, FL; his children, David Bridges & companion, Lisa , Bellmont, NH, Jeff Bridges and wife, Gay, Reston, VA, Chris Bridges and wife, Brenda, Lansdowne, VA, Mary Bible and husband, Darrell, Strasburg, VA; his grandchildren, Jennifer Wright, Alexis Bridges, Clayton Bridges, Kelly Bridges, Robby Bridges, Chris Bible, Dana Bible; great grandchildren, Garrett Wright, Gavin Wright, Hali Bible, Morgan Bible and Anna Bible; his siblings, Steve Bridges and wife, Christine, Sarasota, FL, Linda Prohaska and husband, Bob, Bayonet Point, Fl, Bill Bridges, OH, Donna Bridges, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Darrell Bible, Dana Bible, Chris Bible, Bryan Bridges, Robby Bridges, John Jenkins, Jr., Todd Jenkins and David Leonard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Prohaska and Linda Prohaska. The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Monday, May 23, 2011 from 6-8 P.M.
