Lisa Lynn Jennette Stowe, 63, of Buxton, North Carolina, and formerly of Strasburg, VA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 18, 2026, in Durham, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family.
Lisa was born on January 12, 1963, to Darrell Rawls Jennette of Buxton, NC, and Patricia Ann Palmer of Strasburg, Virginia. As a child, she lived in Richmond and Norfolk, VA, before her family returned home to Buxton, where she graduated from Cape Hatteras High School, Class of 1982, proudly known as the "Free Birds." Lisa became a talented hairdresser and founded Mane Attraction Salon in Buxton, where she built more than a business, she built lifelong friendships. She loved people deeply. Whether meeting someone new or catching up with someone she had known her whole life, Lisa cherished conversation, laughter, and sharing the rich family history of Hatteras Island and Strasburg, Virginia, where her mother's roots run deep. Connection meant everything to her.
Lisa spent seventeen years in Strasburg, VA, staying close to her mother and extended family before returning home to Buxton, where she spent her final year in the place she loved most, her childhood home. Lisa was an amazing mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend. Her love for her family was fierce and unconditional. In addition to her parents Lisa was preceded in death by her sister, Debra Jennette, as well as her grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Above all, Lisa loved the Lord. Her faith was strong, unwavering, and the foundation of her life. She openly shared her love for God with anyone she met and found strength and peace in her faith through every season of life.
Survivors include her children and grandchildren, Kelly Stowe (Shawn) and their children Kamryn Mugford and Benjamin Spencer Mugford; Michael Stowe and his children Ariana Stowe, Maddix Stowe, Chloe Stowe, and Silas Stowe; Ariel Stowe and her children Harmoni Rush, Presleigh Rush, and Lyric Stowe. She is also survived by her extended children and grandchildren: Grace (Brandon) Martin and children Braxton, Brantley, and Brody Martin; Kaleb (Serena) Spencer and children Levi Spencer, Joni Grace Spencer, Aaron Spencer, and Gemma Spencer, along with their parents Brad and Sheila Spencer; Faith Peddle and Hope Peddle and their parents Michael and Karen Peddle. Lisa also leaves behind her brothers; Lance Jennette, and Darrell Jennette Jr., along with many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles whom she loved so dearly.
A celebration of life service for Lisa Lynn Jeannette Stowe will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Toms Brook, VA with Pastor Bobby Funkhouser officiating. Lis was laid to rest privately at the Jennette Family Cemetery in Buxton, NC.
Lisa's warmth, laughter, unwavering faith, and deep love for her family and community will live on in all who knew her.
