IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Libby Lorena
(Mcclendon) Weil
December 7, 1940 – May 8, 2022
Libby Lorena McClendon Weil departed this world peacefully, at her home, on May 8, 2022. She was delivered into the arms of Jesus, who she knew as her personal Lord and savior. She was lovingly cared for by her devoted husband of 46 years, Thomas Weil.
Libby was born to Hattie (Peggy) Partlow and Carl McClendon on December 7, 1940. By age 7 she was blessed with a second father, Jack Partlow and a stepmother Thelma McClendon. All parents predeceased her along with her beloved sister Evelyn Stover, brother Carl McClendon Jr (Bub/Sonny), sister Jeane McClendon and stepson Sean Weil.
Libby had two children: Matthew Horn (Laura) of Mt Airy, MD and Kimberly Williams of Manassas, VA. She had eleven grandchildren: Christopher Kane (Wesley), Nicholas Kane (Fenn), Jennifer Dillon, Alex Kane (Tashina), Samuel Pillow, Abigail Mantzoros (Tom), Noah Pillow, Cody Horn (Sarah), Kyle Horn (Bekah), Kayla Horn, and Aaron Weil. She also had four great-grandchildren: Korben Wolfe, Julia Kane, Sabrina Kane, and Riley Horn.
Libby graduated from Warren County High School in 1959 and, many years later, proudly returned to school to receive certification as a Radiology Technician. She went on to sell Radiology equipment for Maryland X-Ray. She lived in Virginia, Maryland, Colorado and Pennsylvania and made new friends wherever she lived while remaining close to friends from as far back as high school. She maintained an especially close friendship with her cousin Gloria Deiter (Dave) of Etters, PA and her dear friend of many decades, Sonja Hermann (Joe) of Chambersburg, PA. Libby loved golf, horseback riding, arts/crafts, swimming, cooking, and spending time with her family and friends. We know she's enjoying the company of her many friends and family members in heaven who arrived before her, and she's saving a seat for everyone else.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2022 at Stover Funeral Home, 177 N Holliday St, Strasburg, VA. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Panorama Gardens, 4917 Strasburg Rd, Strasburg, VA.
