IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Leo Milton
Dove, Sr.
August 3, 1954 – March 24, 2016
Leo Milton Dove, Sr., a son, a husband, a father, a brother, and a man who never met a stranger with his charismatic and charming nature, passed away March 24, 2016 at his home in Strasburg, Va. Leo Sr., was born August 3, 1954, in Cumberland, MD. From a very young age and into his later years, he thoroughly enjoyed a good mutual prank with family members, friends, and pretty much any person he could get a good scare out of. The man could make the hair on the back of your neck stand by unexpectedly screaming like Tarzan behind or near you, along with many other trademark calls, yells, and noises of all sorts. He graduated from James Wood High School, in 1972, where he studied Body and Fender auto-repair which later on led him to working with his father, Alfred Lee Dove, for a time being. In 1981, he met his wife to be, Francisca, in Gore, VA. and were married soon afterward in 1982. She experienced 34 years of countless memories in marriage. He worked for Perry Judds/R.R. Donnelly, in Strasburg, VA. for 28 years, and his current employment was with Haines Security Agency at Project Hope (Carter Hall) for the past four years, where he was a Security Officer and ranked as a Captain. He was a long-time member of the Church of God. Many of his interests were hunting, fishing, reading, watching Old Westerns, having fun by "scaring the dickens out of people" when they least expected it but all in good fun, and enjoyed a good conversation with anyone he came into contact with. He was very artistic when given the opportunity and had won many awards for some of his works of art. He was very knowledgeable and he could converse with anyone on just about any subject. His children have stated before that he was a "walking Dictionary" and they could ask him anything with a knowledgable answer in return. If he didn't know about it, he would find the answer and return later on to continue the conversation. His knowledge and guidance will be missed. He was preceeded in death by his father, Alfred Lee Dove in 2004. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Francisca P. Dove, and his two children: Son: Leo Milton Dove Jr. and wife Elaina Dove, of Atlanta, GA, who are expecting their first son in April 2016, and Daughter: Raquel A. Dove, of Bettles, AK. Also, surviving is his Mother: Betty L. Dove of Strasburg, VA, Sister: Kitty Dixon-Paloma of Port Allen, LA and her son Winfred Dixon. Sister: Eileen S. Keller and husband William R. Keller Jr. of Franklinville, NJ and her daughters, Sandi M. Keller and her daughter, Maya L. Dove, of Pitman, NJ and Cathy R. Keller, of Philadelphia, PA. Brother: John F. Dove and wife Melinda Dove, of Star Tannery, VA He loved meeting people and he will be greatly missed by all who know him. There will be a short graveside service where he will be laid to rest at 3pm on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Gravel Spring Cemetery: 1870 S. Pifer Road Star Tannery, VA. Any memorial contributions can be made to Stover Funeral home in honor of Leo Sr. and to help the family with expenses.
