Joy Lynn Wist-Thorpe, 66, of Star Tannery, VA passed away Thursday, October 5, 2023, at her residence.

Services and burial for Joy will be held privately.

Joy was born in Annapolis, Maryland on November 10, 1956, a daughter of the late John Herbert   and Gladys Ruth Marshall Wist.  She was a 1975 graduate of Bowie High School, and enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, and baking.  Joy owned and operated Bowie Florist for 18 years where she was a designer.

Survivors include her husband Steven Warren Thorpe whom she married on June 6, 1981; her son John Warren Thorpe; her siblings Gary Allen Wist, Vivian Dale Hall, Denise Ellen Wist, Beverly Ann Tedder, and Royce Lee Wist; a stepsister Sylvia Mattison along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude of thanks to their mountain family, Maryland family and friends as well as Blue Ridge Hospice for all of their care and support during this difficult time.
