John Stanley Allen 87, of Winchester passed away Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Willows at Meadow Branch, Winchester, VA. A funeral service for Mr. Allen will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Stover Memorial Chapel with Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersch officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery, Middletown, VA with full military honors conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg. He was born October 13, 1927 in Mansfield, Louisiana the son of the late John Curtis Allen and Annie Butler Allen. He was a U.S Navy Veteran and in 1988 he retired from FEMA at Mount Weather. He was the husband of Margaret Louise Tevalt Allen whom he married on June 22, 1947. She preceded him in death on May 31, 1995. He then married Phoebe Walters Seaman April, 2007, who preceded him in death on June 14, 2014. In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by five sisters and one brother. He is survived by his daughter, Rhonda L. Sargent and husband, Jerry; grandson, Eric M. Sargent and wife, Cassy, all of Winchester, VA. He is also survived by four step-daughters, Suzanne Spletzer (Barry), Dori DeSpain (Larry), Victoria Headley (Sam) and Diane Carper (Dennis) as well as several step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jerry Sargent, Eric Sargent, Roger Stillwell and Tommy Walters.
