Obituary

Jason A. Hammond passed away suddenly on April 27.  He was most recently of Rhoadesville, Virginia, where he resided with his wife, Carol S. Hammond, their son, Jay Murray, and his family.

A graveside service for Jason will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday May 22, 2021 at Riverview Cemetery in Strasburg, VA.

In his youth, Jason was recognized for his academic and artistic gifts, and he was a competitive swimmer.  His various musical talents prompted involvement in bands, such as Jason and the Golden Fleece and others, that performed across the Mid-Atlantic region.  For several decades, he operated his successful printing business in Orange, Virginia.  In addition, Jason became a very active deacon, musician, and volunteer at his church, Culpeper Christian Fellowship.  His greatest love was sharing with others about his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and His soon coming.

Jason was the son of the late Gene P. and Evelyn E. Hammond.

Jason cherished his devoted wife, Carol, as well as their son, Jay, daughter-in-law, Christie, and grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, Stewart Hammond and Eric Hammond, and two sisters, Magdalene Pierce and Rachael Hammond, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and others, mostly residing in the Valley and Piedmont areas.  All recall, with great fondness, his love of music and witty puns.

Jason will be laid to rest in the Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg, Virginia.
