Janie Lucille Hoffman passed away Tuesday, September 15th at the residence of her daughter's house in Edinburg surrounded by her loving family.

Janie was born August 23, 1953, of the late Rennie Lee Tharpe and Ida Lucille Kearns. Janie was the widow of the late James Austin Hoffman who passed away September 27th, 2010. She was a retired nurse and loved taking care of other people. Janie loved her children but loved her grandkids and great grandkids even more.

Janie loved making quilts and crocheting for her family especially when there was a new grandbaby on the way. She had a true green thumb and enjoyed all her time taking care of all her plants and teaching her family how to take care of them. She enjoyed yearly girl’s trips with her sister, her two daughters and close friends Pat, Monica & Pettie. She loved her family whole heartily and always enjoyed time with them. She was proceeded in death by her brothers Glenn Tharpe and Charles Tharpe and sister Thelma Madigan.

She is survived by her children, Harry Amos Morris Jr of Edinburg, April Cook and husband Daniel of Woodstock and Tabitha Wagner and husband Gene of Edinburg; grandchildren Cassie Cook (Tyler), Caleb Cook (Mariyah), Clarissa Cook (Gerson), Jacob Vance (Brittany) and Jillian Ford (Nikk) and fourteen great grandkids. Siblings Arthur Tharpe, Shirley Bowman (Ron), Dennis Tharpe (Betsy)

A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 3,2026 at St. Stephens cemetery officiated by Pastor Nate Robinson. A celebration of life will follow for close family and friends.
