James Troy Alkire II, 83, of Maurertown, VA passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Winchester Medical Center with his family by his side.

Jim "Papa" was born in Buckhannon, WV on September 29, 1941, the son of the late James Troy Alkire and Madeline Zickefoose Alkire Craig.  Jim loved the outdoors, was a family man, loved to spend time with them and his grandchildren.  He could fix anything; his grandchildren called him Papa Mac Gyver. Tinkering was his thing.  Camping, and looking at classic cars were his favorite things to do.  The Las Vegas Raiders were his favorite football team. He had a big heart and loved being a papa. He will be missed by all.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one sister Bonnie Forstall.

Survivors include wife of 60 years Jennifer Moore Alkire; his children Todd Alkire (Mary), Kim Kerns (Donnie), Chad Alkire; his grandchildren, Taylor, Corey, Connor, Brandon, Ali, Sammy, Malahkai, Parker, Cayden, Trevan, Brock, Courtney; his great grandchildren Rylie, Kynlee, and Sophia, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Services will be held privately.
