James Edward Peterson, Sr., age 78, of Strasburg passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Center, Winchester.

A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2018 at Grace United Methodist Church, Middletown with Rev. Clay Knick officiating. Military honors will be conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post N. 77, Strasburg.

Mr. Peterson was born June 12, 1940 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth Grace McNeil Peterson. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Middletown, Strasburg Moose Lodge No. 403 and Shenandoah American Legion Post No. 77. He was retired from Shockey Brothers, Winchester and proudly served his country in the United States Marines.

Jim loved his wife dearly of 56 years and treasured his time with his family. He was a true New England Patriot, Bruins, Red Sox and Celtic fan. He was a man of many skills and he had a deep faith in God and a smile for everyone.

Surviving are his wife, Donna Jean Tiernan Peterson; his beloved children, Cheryl Lynn Bauserman and husband, Ray of Strasburg, Robbin Lynn Seldon and husband, Frank of High View, West Virginia, James Edward Peterson, Jr. and wife, Kim of Strasburg and Elizabeth Jean Richardson of Strasburg; his grandchildren, Randy Bauserman, Ryan Bauserman, Lauren Marquess, Lindsay Mantz, Wyatt Peterson, Natalee Peterson, Kayleigh Boone and Aubrie Richardson; and six great-grandchildren.
