James Edward Henry, Sr. 77, of Frederick, MD passed away Monday, July 8, 2024, at the VA Medical Center, Martinsburg, WV.

Mr. Henry was born in Washington DC on December 31, 1946, a son of the late Walter Ray and Catherine Unoka Henry.  He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army and served 2 years during the Vietnam War until his Honorable Discharge from the duty following his survival of the shrapnel wounds, he suffered when his helicopter was struck. His military decorations include: A Purple Heart, Sharpshooter-Rifle M-14, VSM-Vietnam Service Medal, VCM w/60 Device-Republic of Vietnam Campaign, 2 O/S Bars-Overseas Service Bars 2 Years and NDSM- National Defense Service Medal. Later, he worked as a police officer in the U.S. State Department in Washington DC, moved on to own his own Commercial Repair Service Company and retired as an appliance repair technician for Sears.  He was a member of the American Legion and FOE Eagles club where he served as a board member. He was a diehard Redskins fan and stood by them win or lose. His number one enjoyment however was taking his family to Ocean City every summer for vacation.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Jacqueline Mae Anderson Henry; and his siblings Carol Jane Johns, John Michael Henry and Robert Craig Henry.

James/Jimmy is survived by his children James Edward Henry, Jr. (Catrenia), Theresa Lynn McCubbin (Vincent), and Dawn Marie Bush (Robert); his grandchildren Christina Lynn Hudler, Steven Byington, Kayla Hozhabri, Alex Fraley, Travis Fraley, and Grace Henry; his great-grandchildren Parker Hozhabri, Hunter Byington, Landon Hudler, Victoria Byington, and Cayson Hudler; and his siblings Walter Ray Henry, Jr,  Bonnie  Rae Gray and Gail Ann Simon along with many several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home and Crematory on Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.  A funeral service for Mr. Henry will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2024, at Stover Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Walnut Springs Cemetery.  Military honors will be given by the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA.
