Irving "Sonny" Lee Holler of Toms Brook, VA passed away after a short illness on Friday, January 24, 2025, at The Warren, an assisted living facility in Woodstock, VA.

Sonny was born June 25, 1940, to his late parents, Carl, and Elsie Holler. Sonny lived in Toms Brook his entire life and was a farmer at heart. He continued to farm until his late 70s. Sonny was also employed by Quick Livick, Inc. for over 30 years as a charter bus driver.

Sonny loved to hunt and fish. During hunting season, he would be out in the mountains from early morning to late evening with his best friend, his brother, Doug and his nephews, Gary and Larry and friends. One of his favorite hunting times was a trip to Wyoming. Thanksgiving dinners would be late until the hunting for the day was complete. Sonny loved dogs, and his face would light up at the sight of a dog. Sonny had a couple of his own dogs over the years, the most recent being his four-legged friend, Jack. Sonny did his "morning meetings" at the Toms Brook Handy Mart with his close friends, Bill, and "Dougie" as he fondly referred to him. Sonny enjoyed trips to Virginia Beach with his daughter and son-in-law. He would sit on the bench by the bay for hours and strike up a conversation with anyone who was willing to do so. Sonny was well known in his community and provided a hand to anyone in need. He was known by many as a kind and sweet man. Up until late last year, he regularly provided transportation to others who needed assistance. Sonny was an active member of the Toms Brook United Methodist Church during his child and adult life. In 2021, Sonny became a member of Building Faith Church at Mt. Hebron.

Sonny is survived by one sister, Phyllis Himelright of Strasburg, VA; and a daughter, Patricia Hollar and son-in-law, Howard Hollar of Herndon, VA and two grand fur babies, Skater and Peppy.

Sonny is preceded in death by his loving wife, Florence in 2019, and a brother, Doug Holler of Toms Brook, VA.
