Helen Virginia Windle Mumaw 93, of Strasburg, VA passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, at the home of her daughter in Front Royal, VA.
A funeral service for Mrs. Mumaw will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2023, at Stover Funeral Home with Rev. John Haynes, Jr. and Pastor Robert Moore officiating. Mrs. Mumaw will be laid to rest privately. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
The family will also receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Mrs. Mumaw was born in Toms Brook, VA on February 14, 1930, a daughter of the late Samuel Irving and Violet May Bauserman Windle. She was a member of Strasburg United Methodist Church. Helen worked as a switchboard operator for Farmers Mutual Telephone System, now Shentel and retired from Shenandoah Memorial Hospital where she worked as a Dietary Supervisor. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Lee Mumaw, Jr.
Survivors include her children Darlene "Cookie" Day (Randy) and Daryl "Beanie" Mumaw (Tina); her grandchildren Amy Gray (Ray), Elizabeth Mumaw (Louis), Rebekah Mumaw, Caleb Mumaw, Amanda Garrenton (Dan), Chris Day (Stacey), Greg Smith (Brittney), Kristi Smith, Adam Bodkin; her great grandchildren Bristen, Ashton, Skylar, Kenzie, Trenton, Rose, Lily, Harper, Marissa, and Eli; her brother Robert I. Windle (Donna) along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork, St., Winchester, VA 22601, a local SPCA, or a local charity of one's choice.
Daryl "Beanie" Mumaw would like to express his gratitude of thanks to his sister Darlene "Cookie" Day and her husband Randy for their dedication, devotion, and committed care they have given to Mrs. Mumaw over the past five plus years in their home.
