IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Harry "Skeeter"
Lambert, Jr.
April 13, 1936 – August 20, 2022
Harry "Skeeter" Ford Lambert, Jr.
Harry Ford Lambert Jr. 86 of Strasburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2022. Harry was known affectionately as "Skeeter" to all that knew and loved him.
A funeral service for Skeeter will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Pastor Bobby Funkhouser officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery with full military honors by the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA. The family would like to invite everyone back to the Church for a fellowship meal following burial.
The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Thursday evening, August 25, from 6-8 p.m.
Skeeter was born in Woodstock, Virginia, on April 13, 1936, son of the late Janet Dyke and Harry Ford Lambert, Sr. He was a 1954 graduate of Strasburg High School and joined the United States Navy after graduating. He became a seaman on the U.S.S. Coral Sea where he served for four years as a gunner's mate. He was a member of the Toms Brook United Methodist Church, the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, and the Strasburg Moose Lodge.
Skeeter grew up working in his family's grocery store and later owned two grocery stores of his own, continuing the family business of Skeeter's Superette. He also worked at Crabill's Meats and later returned to the grocery business managing a large grocery box store in Winchester until he retired.
Skeeter was very devoted to his family and was one of a kind. Even in retirement with health challenges, he did all he could to help his family in every way. He loved to mow the grass, run errands, grocery shop and plan meals, and help care for and entertain his grandchildren, doing all he could to spoil them rotten. Even as his health failed, he maintained a sharp intellect and infectious laughter that brought so much joy to many. He will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, Skeeter was preceded in death by his son Rickey Lee Coffelt. Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Carol "Pat" Lambert; his son Clark Lambert (Melanie) of Richmond, VA; his daughter Donna Lambert Eagle (Chuck) of Winchester, VA; his son Ed Lambert (Melissa) of Overland Park, KS; his sister Mary Lambert Miller (Larry) of Strasburg, VA; his brother Gary Lambert of Front Royal, VA; and his beloved grandchildren Megan Eagle Murphy, Sully and Kennedy Eagle, Ella, Tripp, Paxton, and Camden Lambert.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Copeland, Gary Lambert, Greg Rutz, Larry Miller, Harry Miller, and Chuck Eagle.
The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to the Strasburg Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 620 Strasburg VA 22657, or the Strasburg Fire Department, P.O. Box 347, Strasburg, VA 22657.
