Gary Kirkland Thorne, age 75, passed away at his home in Washington D.C. on Thursday, March 18, 2021.

Services and burial for Gary will be conducted privately.

Gary was born on June 10, 1945 in Front Royal, VA a son of the late Pearl Wilson "P.W." and Daisy Huffman Thorne.  Gary was a 1963 graduate of Strasburg High School where he served as the as Class President with a focus on science.  Gary went on to study Liberal Arts at Shenandoah College and tab wiring at the American Institute in Washington D.C.  Gary was an early pioneer in the computing industry, building computers and writing code before most people knew they existed.  Gary was also a Veteran of the United States Army, Air Defense Artillery, where he honorably served for three years.

Gary is survived by his only brother, Charles Thorne along with nephews Neil Thorne and Kevin Thorne.

The family suggests that expression of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice.
