Obituary

Gary Allen Himelright, 81, of Strasburg, VA passed away Sunday, August 16, 2026, at his home in Strasburg, VA.

Mr. Himelright was born on October 18, 1944, a son of the late Courtney Sherwood and Virginia Mae Miller Himelright. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and retired from Carmeuse, having worked for 44 years. Mr. Himelright was a former member of the Strasburg Moose Lodge and was the husband of the late Carolyn Elaine Wetzel Himelright. In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a grandson Brady Gordon and two brothers Roger Himelright and Ronald Himelright.

Survivors include his children Bobbi Bynaker of Bayse, VA, Billie Jo Himelright, and Misty Wetzel both of Strasburg, VA, Jaime Himelright of Harrisonburg, VA and Mike Himelright (Sara) of Strasburg, VA; his grandchildren Amber Himelright, Amanda Himelright, Emma Himelright, Piper Himelright, Christian Kerns, and Brittany Kerns; his great-grandchildren Savannah Himelright, Caden Hosaflook, Teagan Beaune, Trinity Beaune, Xavier Beaune, and Hunter Himelright; his siblings Danny Himelright (Cindy) and Sandy Link (Tex); a sister in law Shirley Himelright along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service for Mr. Himelright will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2026, at Stover Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Panorama Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Daren Pingley, Charlie Orndorff, Dennis Palmer, Scott Burkhart, Mike Hepner, and Christian Kerns.

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m.
