Garland Lloyd Dodson, age 87, a resident of Strasburg, VA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at his residence.

A funeral service for Mr. Dodson will be conducted at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Stover Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow in the Little Georgetown Cemetery, The Plains, VA.

Mr. Dodson was born in Rappahannock, VA on October 16, 1933 a son of the late William Alexander and Lizzy May Newcomer Dodson.  He was a member of Souls Harbor Church of God in Manassas, VA where he was a longtime member of Caring and Sharing Outreach.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Minor Dodson and two sisters, Dora Ann Jenkins and Tasie Baldwin along with a stepdaughter, Melody Wright.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Margaret Dodson of Strasburg, VA; one brother Dan Dodson; a sister Mary Hick; a stepdaughter, Nadine Knight and husband Pete; four stepsons, Timmy Via, Bobby Via, Tony Via and wife Sam, and Johnny Via and wife, Natayia.  Mr. Dodson is also survived by three sons, Garland Dodson, Jr., Jeff Dodson, and Mike Dodson and a daughter, Julie Dean.  Mr. Dodson leaves behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a extra special niece Lucy Ann.  Mr. Dodson will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends.

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 noon.
