Fred Kenneth Rutz, age 92, a well-known resident of Strasburg, VA passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Winchester Medical Center.

A graveside service for Fred will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 14, 2021 at Riverview Cemetery with Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersch officiating.  Full military honors will be conducted by the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77 Strasburg, VA.

Fred was born in Strasburg, VA on November 6, 1928 a son of the late Harry Houston Rutz, Sr. and the late Bertha Drummonds Rutz.  Fred was a veteran of the U.S. Army.  He was an avid musician who loved to play the guitar and sing as well as hunt and fish.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, Claude T. Rutz, Harry H. Rutz, Jr., Jack T. Rutz, Robert P. Rutz, Edward S. Rutz, John W. Rutz, Lena R. Vaught, Eva R. Ranney and Dorothy R. Riffey.

Fred is survived by one sister Loretta R. Campbell of Strasburg, VA; his best friend Rick Evans of Strasburg, VA along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear friends all of whom will miss Fred dearly.
