Fred Franklin Funk, 73, of Gerrardstown, WV and formerly of Strasburg, VA, passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at the home of his daughter in Gerrardstown, WV.

Mr. Funk was born in Shenandoah County, VA on December 27, 1952, the son of the late Marcellus Pifer and Beatrice Elizabeth Racey Funk. He was a graduate of Strasburg High School and retired from Rubbermaid Commercial Products in Winchester, VA. Mr. Funk was an avid NASCAR and baseball fan, member of the Front Royal Moose Lodge and former of the Strasburg Moose Lodge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Deborah Elizabeth Mauck Funk, a grandson Logan Maiatico, two siblings Richard Funk and Brenda Funk along with the mother of his children Brenda McKee.

Survivors include his children Missy Sulser (Lyndel) of Gerrardstown, WV, Kristy Maiatico (Tony) of Strasburg, VA and Jennifer Jenkins (Jimmy) of Martinsburg, WV; his grandchildren Austin Jenkins, Randi Bartley (Nick), Noah Clemons (Diamond), Brandon Jenkins, Blake Sulser (Kaci), Nick Maiatico, Madison Perrett (Fabian), McKenna Ambrose (Matthew), Irelyn Jenkins, Brayden Maiatico, and Phoenix Jenkins; seven great-grandchildren; his siblings Eddie Funk (Patti), Dinah Milgrim, Bobby Funk, and Rose Linger along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service for Mr. Funk will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2026, at Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church, 189 Parson Ct., Winchester, VA 22603 with Rev. Jeff Dillon officiating. Mr. Funk will be laid to rest privately.

The family will receive friends at the church on Monday evening one hour prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Austin Jenkins, Brandon Jenkins, Phoenix Jenkins, Nick Maiatico, Brayden Maiatico, Blake Sulser, and Noah Clemons.
