Edward William Ahlers 82, a resident of Strasburg, VA passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, at Heritage Hall of Front Royal, VA.

A graveside service for Mr. Ahlers will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2021, at Panorama Memorial Gardens with Pastor Eric Reploeg officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA.

Mr. Ahlers was born in New York City on April 25, 1939, a son of the late Otto Ernst and Catherine Mary Colvin Ahlers.  He was a member of 50 years to the Unity Masonic Lodge No. 146 A.F. & A.M. and a veteran of the U.S. Army.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Christopher Allen Romer.

Survivors include his loving wife Ethel Ahlers of Strasburg, VA; his two daughters Tina Ahlers Maddox (Jimmy) of Strasburg, VA and Cathy Elaine Ahlers of Winchester, VA; his grandchildren, Brian Andrew Maddox (Laurie), Chad William Kanatus (Fallon), Emily Quinn Maddox, Brandon Shreck Kanatus (Jessica), Ashley Noel Phillips along with one great-granddaughter Marlene Elaine Kanatus.

The family suggest that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to a charity of one's choice in memory of Mr. Ahlers.
