Dwight Anthony Yates, age 69, of Strasburg passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at Winchester Medical Center.

A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2017 at Strasburg Christian Church with Rev. Carter Alsberry, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg with masonic rites conducted by Spurmont Lodge No. 98, A.F. & A.M.

Dwight was born in Winchester on May 3, 1948, a son of the late Russell Wilson and Lottie Mae Wisecarver Yates, Sr. He was a member of Strasburg Christian Church where he served as a Deacon and sang in the choir. Music was very important to him and he let you know it when he sang. He worked for Columbia Gas for many years. Dwight was a past master of Spurmont Lodge No. 98, A.F. & A.M. He loved people and so enjoyed going to Strasburg McDonald's to have coffee with the "Good Ole Boys group". He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Surviving are his wife, Sally Neal Yates; his two children, Allison Martin and husband, Ryan of Strasburg and Christian Yates and wife, Fallon of Salem, whom he was so proud of; his sister, Sandra Kay Yates of Strasburg; four grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart, Brandon Martin and Megan Martin, both of Strasburg and Eli Yates and Millie Yates, both of Salem. He was preceded in death by his brother, Sonny Yates.

The family will receive friends at Strasburg Christian Church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
