Obituary

Donald G. Trent, Sr., age 86 of Strasburg died Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Consulate Health Care of Woodstock six days after his beloved wife, Mary Ann Cooke Trent passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2018 also at Consulate Health Care of Woodstock. They were married August 31, 1951 in Clintwood, VA and would have celebrated their 67 anniversary this year.

I could see you growing tired. I knew it was time for me to leave, so we could walk down the path together. We"ll stay together always, our story will be forever more.

A private graveside service for Mr. & Mrs. Trent will be held at Fishers Hill Cemetery with Rev. David Howard officiating. Military honors for Mr. Trent will be conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post No. 77, Strasburg.

Mr. Trent was born November 6, 1931 in Lex, West Virginia, a son of the late Thomas L. Trent, Sr. and Rosa E. Stanley Trent. He owned and operated Trent Trucking, Strasburg for 22 years and retired in February from the Shenandoah County Waste Management as a compactor superintendent. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served in the United States Army, a member of Shenandoah American Legion Post No. 77 and former member of the Strasburg Moose Lodge, No. 403.

Surviving are his son, Donald G. Trent, Jr. and wife, Janey of Strasburg; his grandson, Jesse Trent of Strasburg; his sister, Jackie Stallard, Richlands, VA; his son-in-law, Daniel Buchanan of Warner Robins, GA. And a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Buchanan. Two brothers, Thomas L. Trent, Jr. and Dick Trent; six sisters, Pat Simon, Clea Forbes, Ruby Trent, Vergie Trent, Ethel Echols and Geneva Mayott.

Mary Ann Cooke Trent, age 83, was born August 19, 1934 in Berwin, West Virgina, a daughter of the late Benjamin Estel and Ila Warf Cooke.

Surviving are her son, Donald G. Trent, Jr. and wife, Janey of Strasburg; her grandson, Jesse Trent of Strasburg; son-in-law, Daniel Buchanan of Warner Robins, GA; her sister, Helen Hagy of North Carolina; and a number of nieces and nephews..

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Buchanan; two sisters, Betty Sue Cooke and Peggy Weller; a brother William Cooke.

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home, 177 N. Holliday St., Strasburg on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
