Curtis D. Miller

Curtis Dale Miller 58, our brave soldier, who loved life and loved people in his life, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at his residence.

A funeral service for Curtis will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2017 at Walnut Springs Christian Church with Rev. Wendell M. Schurtz, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Springs Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by Shenandoah American Legion Post 77, Strasburg, VA.

Curtis was born October 3, 1958 at the Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino, California a son of Franklin Lee and Patricia Anne Orndorff Miller. When he was four months old he rode across the country to Strasburg, VA, in the back seat of his dad's 1949 Ford. He has lived and worked his entire life in Strasburg. He was a 1978 graduate from Strasburg High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Curtis was a member of Walnut Springs Christian Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved airplanes and took lessons from Reggie at Warren County Airport and made his first solo flight on July 19, 1988. Curtis worked several jobs and his last was with Bertelsmann Printing Company in Berryville, VA. He loved his Harley and was heartbroken when his illness prevented him from riding.

Curtis is survived by his parents, Franklin Lee and Patricia Anne Orndorff Miller of Strasburg, VA; his brothers, Carl A. Miller and Christopher T. Miller both of Strasburg, VA; his niece and nephew, Lizzie R. Miller and Levi F. Miller; his good friend and caregiver, Karen Paige of Strasburg, VA along with several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Orndorff, Doug Orndorff, Jon Orndorff, Mike Orndorff, Greg Holsinger, and Delmas Hodson.
