Obituary

Charles (Sug) Junior Corley October 8th, 1940 – February 9th, 2023

On February 9th, at sunset God whispered in Charles' ear and said, "you have fulfilled your purpose, come with me."

Charles was born to Shirley and Hester Humbert Corley on October 8th, 1940, in Stephens City, VA.  He went to grade school in Stephen City and then graduated from Douglas High School in Winchester, Va. Charles played football for the Douglas Bulldogs. He met his "sweetheart" Patricia Toliver while attending Douglas. Charles was a hard-working man. His first job was at People's Drug Store in Winchester, VA, as a stocker. The longevity of his working career was as a foreman at Avtex, Inc. in Front Royal, VA. At the end of his career, he worked as a delivery driver in Manassas, VA. During his retirement, he worked at Honda Miller and Napa Auto Parts in Winchester, VA.

He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Strasburg, VA. He worked faithfully in the church; Treasurer, Methodist Men, Chairman of Trustees and Usher (special occasions). Charles was known for his "famous baked beans" at church functions. Charles loved the Lord and the church. He adored his family with all his heart, and his was a man of few words.

Charles married Patricia Toliver, August 7th, 1960. From their union, they have two daughters, Gina Corley Harrison (Ricardo) High Point, NC and Veronica Corley Hawkins (David) Henderson, NC, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren all who live in NC. And a host of nieces and nephews.

Also surviving with his wife, Patricia Corley is his brother Allen Corley; his three sisters, Roberta Holiness, Dorothy Rickets, and Elaine Spence all of Winchester, VA. He is preceded in death, by his sisters, Joanne Frye and Charlotte Berger and daughter, Lisa Burrell.

We thank everyone for your support, prayers, cards, calls, love, food, and financial gifts during this difficult time. Our family will never forget your love for Charles.
