Carl Deaton, age 80, a resident of Fort Valley, VA passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2020, peacefully at his home in Fort Valley with his beloved and devoted wife, Vicki, at his side.

Carl was born on November 13,1940 in Bruceton, Tennessee to the late Carl and Mattie Deaton. The family then moved to San Angelo, Texas when Carl was five years old.

Carl was a graduate of SW Texas State University and was a research scientist for Bayer Corporation until his retirement in 2000.

In September, 1984 he married the love of his life and soulmate, Victoria (Vicki), who survives. They made their home in several places including  California, Pennsylvania, and Virginia and finally settled in their beloved Fort Valley in 1987. Carl was active in the Fort Valley community, volunteering and building bookcases for the Fort Valley Library and setting up tents for festivals and events at the Fort Valley Museum.

In addition to his parents Carl was predeceased by a sister, Enola, and two brothers, Wilford and Gerald. He is survived by his wife, Vicki, and two daughters, Dee Ann Deaton of Mesa, AZ and Cindy Deaton Bell of Salem, OR. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Autumn, Emily, and Collin Bell.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic there will be no gatherings at this time.
