C. Larry McIlwee 79 of Star Tannery, VA passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Winchester Medical Center.

A funeral service for Larry will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 21, 2022, at the Gravel Springs Lutheran Church with Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersch officiating.  Mr. McIlwee will be laid to rest in the Gravel Springs Cemetery. The family will gather immediately following at the Star Tannery Fire Department for a time of food and fellowship.

The family will receive friends at Stover Funeral Home and Crematory in Strasburg, VA on Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m.

Larry was born in Star Tannery, VA on February 5, 1943, a son of the late Curtis Sale "Buck" and Indola Reynolds McIlwee.  He was a life member and former Chief of the Star Tannery Vol. Fire & EMS Department.  Larry worked and retired as a Superintendent/heavy equipment operator from Perry Engineering.  He was a member of the Greenbrier Hunting Club and the Rocky Hollow Hunting Club.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson Aaron Mark McIlwee.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years Shirley Carper McIlwee of Star Tannery; his children Jeanne McIlwee Broy (Phil) of Maurertown, VA and Dennis Lee McIlwee (Tina) of Lebanon Church, VA; his grandchildren Justin Lee McIlwee and Nicole Lynn McIlwee; a sister Neva Strosnider of Maurertown along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Justin McIlwee, Everett McIlwee, Dean McIlwee, Terry McIlwee, Billy Rudolph, and Von Himelright.

Honorary pallbearers will be Eugene Keckley, Jack Colvin, Joe Fleming, Bobby Copeland, and Gary Strosnider.
