Those of you who knew our Mother, Brenda Alice McBride Knonenborg, would describe her as vibrant, energetic, and funny.  Brenda always put family before herself and was known for taking care of them when in need even as she struggled with mobility.  She courageously endured and overcame many obstacles throughout her life. Her love of life and family will not come to an end with her passing.

She was well known in the Strasburg, VA community and was the last owner of the Virginia Restaurant. She was also the former owner of the Beef Hut Restaurant which later became the Hi Neighbor Restaurant. She was a member of the Mt. Olive United Methodist Church in Toms Brook, VA. Brenda passed peacefully into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior in the early morning hours of 15 Aug 2022 at the home of her son and loving daughter-in law, Gwenna, in Maurertown, VA. She was surrounded by her devoted family who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest as she did. Her life is our blessing and will never be forgotten.

Survivors include her children: Tina Putman (Danny), Lori LaForce (Dwight), Matthew Knonenborg (Gwenna); Grandchildren: Jessica Jarrell (Cody), Jesse LaForce (Shelley), Victoria Lowery (Evan), Matthew Knonenborg (JillAnn), Emily Knonenborg, Katie LaForce, Sarah LaForce; Great Grand Children: Lleyton Jarrell, Oliver Jarrell, Stella Lowery, Sophie Knonenborg, and Cora Lowery; Siblings: Vena Seibert (Dan), Phyllis McBride, Pamela Purcell, Lynn Manderson (Walt), and Paula Britton. Along with numerous nephews and nieces, she was also survived by her childhood lifelong friends, Linda Huskins and her husband Richard.

She was preceded in death by her husband Matthew Knonenborg Jr., her Mother Mallie Mae Smith McBride, her Aunt Laura Alice Smith (twin sister to Mallie Mae McBride), and her siblings Rickie McBride, Phillip McBride and his wife Peggy, Dale Maness and her husband Bernie Maness, Saundra McBride, and her Niece Debra McBride Hill.

A private family memorial will be held in her hometown of Asheboro, North Carolina on Friday August 19 th , 2022. Her final resting place will be Oaklawn cemetery in Asheboro North Carolina.
