Barbara Ellen Schell Butler 76 of Toms Brook, VA passed away Monday, November 14, 2022, at Winchester Medical Center.

A celebration of life service for Mrs. Butler is being planned for a later date.

Mrs. Butler was born in Laurinburg, NC on February 21, 1946, a daughter of the late John Robert and Genell Grace McColl Schell.  She was a graduate of Red Springs High School and earned her bachelor's degree from Pembroke State University. She was a veteran and Commissioned officer of the U.S. Army where she served during the Vietnam era as a Personal Specialist at Ft Eustis and Ft Devens.  She loved the beach, especially Oak Island.

Survivors include her husband Gary William Butler of Toms Brook, VA; her children Lisa Butler Griffin-Ferrell of Wilmington, NC and Teressa Selders and husband Brian of Hubert, NC; her grandson Ryan "Bubba" Daniels and a sister Bobbie Lou Wilhite of Walhalla, SC.

The family suggests that expressions of sympathy be in the form of memorial contributions to Oak Island Preservation Society, P.O. Box 183, Oak Island, NC 28465.
