Barbara Ellen McIlwee went home to be with the Lord on September 2, 2022, at the Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care Center.
A funeral service for Mrs. McIlwee will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Gravel Springs Lutheran Church with Rev. Sonya Williams-Giersch officiating. Burial will follow in Gravel Springs Cemetery with Full military honors given by the Shenandoah American Legion Post 77 Strasburg, VA.
The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday one hour prior to the service.
Barbara was born in Woodstock, VA on July 25, 1942, a daughter of the late Roy Robinson and Elesta Bowman Robinson. She was a U.S. Navy Veteran and member of Gravel Springs Lutheran Church. She was a loving wife, mother and, spent many hours caring for others. She loved spending time with her beloved pet cats and her homemade chocolate pies will be missed. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Elwood McIlwee, and a daughter Rebecca Chiam.
Survivors include her two daughters, Jennifer Deann Teets of New Market VA and Michelle Andrea McIlwee of Star Tannery VA; two granddaughters, Autumn Nicole Staffa of Edinburg VA, and Kimberly Cunningham of Timberville VA; her great grandchildren Noah Teets, Kyesha Teets, Joel Robinson, Naomi Robinson, Lilly Carey, Memphis Carey, and Maverick Carey as well as many extended family members and beloved friends.
Pallbearers will be Noah Teets, Russell Allen, Wesley Rudolph, Joseph Rudolph, Allen Stevens, Joshua Stevens, and Dennis McIlwee
Honorary Pallbearers will be Joel Robinson, Memphis Carey, Maverick Carey, David Vance, Marvin Bradby, Kenneth Hines, Jack Colvin, and David Vann
Memorials may be made to Blue Ridge Hospice, 333 W. Cork Street, Winchester, VA 22601, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to any no kill animal shelter.
