Carol Norris, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at the age of 88.

Mrs. Norris was born on January 13, 1938, in Alexandria, Virginia, Carol was the eldest daughter of Elwood Lamar Riggles and Norma Ethel Ashford.

Carol’s life was a tapestry of love, resilience, and dedication. She was predeceased by her parents, six siblings, two husbands, a daughter, and a great-granddaughter, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories and unconditional love. She is survived by her devoted children Dana (Tressie), Debbie (Pete), Ralph (Leila), and Mike, along with fourteen grandchildren and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. Her family extends to one brother, three sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in her heart.

A graduate of Fairfax High School in 1956, Carol embarked on a remarkable career that included working for the CIA, demonstrating her commitment and resilience in every role she undertook. As an entrepreneur and secretary, her entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly when she raised free-range chickens, supplying them to renowned establishments, including the White House. Her entrepreneurial journey continued with the ownership of Cedar Creek Valley Trout Farm, where her dedication and hard work left an indelible mark.

In her later years, Carol found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly in feeding and watching the birds in her backyard. The cardinals, with their vibrant colors, were her particular favorites, symbolizing the beauty and grace she brought into the lives of those around her. Her loving warmth and kindness will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A service celebrating Carol’s remarkable life will be held on August 29, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Cedar Creek Christian Church, located at 5614 Zepp Road, Maurertown, Virginia. As we gather to honor her memory, we are reminded of the love and light she brought into our lives.

Carol will be remembered for her unwavering love, her indomitable spirit, and the profound impact she had on all those fortunate enough to have known her. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
